A Toyota Proace Matino campervan that was part of a text-to-win “Campervan and Staycation Goodies” prize package for BBC Children in Need’s 2020 Appeal has been presented to the lucky winner, Molly Dry, from London. The handover took place at the Jemca Toyota Edgware Road dealership in North London.

The Wellhouse Leisure Toyota Proace Matino campervan, worth £49,000, was jointly donated by Wellhouse Leisure and Toyota to BBC Children in Need’s 2020 Appeal, where it helped to raise a total of £1,134,580.

Molly Dry, who loves camping, commented: “I can’t believe I’ve won. I don’t normally enter competitions, but the night I was watching BBC Children in Need, I said to a friend that I’d love a campervan, and she said go ahead and enter it then! I’m so glad I did, it’s pretty life changing to have won. The prize package means I’ll be able to get to see a lot more of the UK, starting with my first visit to Cornwall in spring.”

The Toyota Proace Matino campervan, prepared by Wellhouse Leisure, is a four-berth model powered by a 2.0-litre, 120bhp turbodiesel engine and is perfect for comfortable holidays at any time of year. It is equipped with a kitchen with fridge, sink and gas cooker, and has a rear seat that unfolds to become a double bed, a pop-up roof containing another double bed, programmable heating, and an 80W solar panel to keep the leisure battery charged if camping off-grid. Electronic gadgets can be charged using the 12v or 240v sockets and USB ports. Dark-tinted rear windows provide privacy.

The prize package also includes one year’s family membership of the Caravan and Motorhome Club with 12 weekend breaks (two nights for up to four people) at its UK campsites; insurance donated by Caravan Guard, outdoor sports equipment from Decathlon Sports with everything needed to enjoy an amazing trip (kayak, bikes, surfboards and even sledges); plus access to campsites, theme parks and wildlife attractions across the UK.

Molly received the keys to the campervan from David Elliott, CEO and founder of Wellhouse Leisure, who commented: “It was a pleasure to meet Molly and I’m delighted she’s already joined the Wellhouse Adventures Facebook group to get lots of tips from other owners. We’re sure she’s going to have a great time exploring the UK in her campervan.”

Claire Hoyle, Commercial Director at BBC Children in Need, commented: “It is thanks to supporters like Wellhouse Leisure and Toyota that we are able to support over 3,500 local charities and projects which tackle the challenges faced by children and young people across the UK to build their confidence and resilience and make a lasting, positive change in their lives. Thank you to Wellhouse Leisure, Toyota and everyone that entered, this incredible amount of money really will change young lives.”
