With Easter coming up this would normally be the time when many of us would be getting ready for our travels to favourite or new destinations.
But sadly that won’t be the case for the time being.
Why not use this unexpected spare time for some DIY maintenance?
Here are a few things that you can do yourself in order for your ‘van to be in good working order for your first trip.
Check your fresh water system for leaks, flushing the system at the same time. You will find out if your pump is working correctly.
Flush through your waste system and add some refreshing product such as Thetford’s Grey Water Fresh
Check out the cassette toilet system, the flush pump and the rubber seal on the waste tank. Aqua Rinse pink spray is useful to lubricate the rubber seal
Open all your rooflights and clean the debris which has collected there. Aqua Rinse is good for lubricating the seals here as well
Similarly open all the windows and clean the rubber seals
Check all the cupboard doors and lubricate the hinges and catches as required
Fire up your heating and hot water system on gas to help clear any debris on the burners
Remove the outside fridge vents and gently vacuum the back of your fridge, then operate your fridge on gas for ten minutes to clear the burner
In your gas bottle locker check the dates on the rubber hoses. Five years is their maximum life, so if older they need replacing.
Check the date on your Fire Extinguisher and replace if expired.
Check your tyres for cracks, not just tread depth
These are just a few things you can do to be ready for future adventures particularly if you are struggling to book a full habitation check at the moment.
