Another Swift group product

Yes indeed, well Swindon Caravan Centre is an agent for the Swift group so it isn’t surprising really. This Conquerer has an identical layout to the Cameo that we have just looked at, but to our eyes it looks much nicer and dare we say more homely.

You will still need a heavy vehicle to tow it around though.

Can we look outside

Yes indeed, the front panel is unmarked although the “A” frame cover has a small black mark from the jockey wheel on it, the offside has a Ring radio aerial at high level, at the normal low level there is a water pump inlet, then a Truma water heater flue, the fridge vents are just forward of the front axle, aft of the axles is the under bed storage locker door, and right at the rear is the toilet access door with rinse water filler over.

The rear panel feels very strong and from a label we know that this Swift was sold by Swindon Caravan Centre. The nearside has a gas barbeque point, then a wet locker complete with 230 volt socket inside, the entrance door, like the Cameo, is forward of the axle, that is the sum total of items on the nearside.

The chassis is the almost universal AL-KO which looks in good order as do the wheels and tyres, corner steadies, again, have been well looked after, the underside always gives a clue as to how the whole caravan has been looked after, this is good.

Is the interior as good as the exterior?

At first glance, and without actually living in the caravan we would say yes, the kitchen is opposite the door, on the Swift the sink and the cooker are cream, the sink has a built in draining board and the Stoves domestic style cooker has self ignition.

As with the Bessacarr there is a noticeable lack of workspace, so the cook would be somewhat fraught if required to cook anything even remotely adventurous.

Front lounge is the twin settee, centre chest of drawers type with drop down doors for the bed lockers, the cushions are in an unusual pattern of two shades of green, fawn, and orange, we haven’t seen this pattern before in a Swift, we thought that it was very attractive.

The wardrobe is opposite the kitchen and is, in our opinion, not really large enough for four sets of clothes, or is it us?

The fixed bed is behind the room divider and again looked quite inviting, the washroom is once again right across the rear of the caravan, the shower is a circular one and is in the nearside rear corner, the wash basin is against the rear wall, more or less in the centre, the swivel toilet is in the offside rear corner, and the whole room is fairly cramped but quite useable.

What about the kitchen?

For an enthusiastic cook this would be a disappointing part of the Conquerer, there is no room for a kettle let lone many mixing bowls, this is in our opinion a “beans on toast” type of kitchen, and if you had a full crew on board you would be using the site restaurant.

Who will buy this Swift?

Again we think that this will be bought by a couple who want to use it as a semi-static so they do not have to tow it very much, in fact they might even have it towed to and from their house by a friend.

There is plenty of storage throughout the caravan so that would reinforce our opinion as to who would buy it and what it will be used for, if they are going to tow the Swift themselves they will need a rather heavy vehicle.
